Ella and Sam spent the weekend with Heather’s folks, and we got things done around the house and enjoyed the quiet time. The highlights included going for a three-hour lazy canoe trip. We are use to doing extensive, long-weekend canoe trips which include paddling against the wind in lakes, upstream along rivers, against the rain, and portaging miles through mud and forest in Southern Ontario. This trip was the exact opposite. It laid back fun in the sun along the Harpeth River. Thanks to the nice people at The Foggy Bottom Canoe Rental.

After the canoe trip we went out for an amazing Italian meal at Cafe Nonna in Nashville. The restaurant was quaint, service sweet and food excellent. We had considered going to a 10pm movie after the dinner, but as you parents know, sleep is extremely valuable and sought after, so we head home.

Sunday was spent at a State Park with Heather’s parents, sister and her husband and kids, and of course, Ella and Sam. We had a great picnic as we tried to celebrate how incredible our moms our. Mine is on her way here next week to visit for a couple of weeks, we’re all very excited about that too.

All in all it was a grand Mother’s Day weekend. We hope you had a great one too. Let us know what you got up to, what did your husband and kids do to help celebrate?

Thank you so much for staying subscribed, you do know you rock right? You do! Us, maybe not so much. Yes, it’s true. We’ve been kind of slowish on producing new episodes of Two Boobs and a Baby + over the past couple of months. It’s been a pretty wild few months. In the last six months, we moved to Nashville, bought our first house and have been working like dogs, both at home and at the office. It’s been crazy trying to find the time to sit down together to produce a show, but we haven’t given up yet. Add the time factor with flat out exhaustion and that’s the reason why our episodes have been a wee bit slow reaching you. Enough of the excuses, eh?

Our listeners are our friends and we truly appreciate you staying subscribed. Your patience is always appreciated, as we figure out how to be podcasting parents. On that note, the family is awesome. We’ve had some huge milestones over the last few weeks. Ella is now walking and dancing, she loves to sing the theme to Bob the Builder and Twinkle, Twinkle. Sam is hooked to Higglytown Heroes, dinosaurs and Yo Gabba Gabba, plus he’s now walking to his bedroom himself to go to bed - so independent! Heather’s surviving being a stay-at-home mommy and Dave is loving his job at Emma, he’s also blogging loads over at davemadethat.com, drop by some time.

We want to sincerely with you all the best in ‘08 and a very happy holiday.

Along the way we have found ourselves mentioned on many parenting podcasts, blogs and forums. We’ve made many amazing friends. We popped in to an article in USA Today which featured our friends at the MommyCast. We were even featured in a full article in the Jackson Sun.

Our long time listeners will remember Episode 28, when Ella joined our cast. We still joke that our podcast ratings were slipping, so we followed what any television sitcom does, we added a baby!

Lately it’s more than difficult to keep 2BB going on a regular basis. Life gets pretty hectic when you have a job, a new house, and Irish twins. At the moment Ella and Sam are the same age! How weird is that?

I finished pulling off the first un-conference in Nashville history, BarCamp Nashville. My good friend, Marcus Whitney and I dreamed that baby up. With some help from good new friends the event was a huge success. Now I’m in the early stages of planning PodCamp Nashville, plus some other events, such as BarCamp Nashville II.

Then there’s my day job at Emma, which I love. It’s a fantastic email marketing company which I whole heartedly recommend to all of you to check out. Let me know if you’d like an introduction (for the record I am not in sales).

I’m also trying my best to maintain good daddy status, but I feel that work and my extra circular activities have me missing important family time, like breakfast and bed time. I know it’s for the better in the long run, but I am doing my best to be home as much as possible with the people most important to me in my life.

I have also started a new blog called Dave Made That. It’s my new home. You’ll find me blogging there most of the time from now on. However, you’ll still see me here, especially when we have new episodes ready to rock.

I don’t know about you folks who are podcasting parents with Irish Twins, but dudes it ain’t easy being punctual these days. We’re doing our best to produce the podcast as regularly as we can, but there seems to be so many other more pressing issues every day, like cleaning the house and changing the kids diapers.

A friend I worked with gave me some advice about parenting way back before Sam was born. He said to never tell anyone about your babysitter. His advice is really solid, because often times you’ll find you go out for dinner with friends who live in your neighbourhood. This means that they will be looking for a sitter too. Think about it.

On Saturday, June 16, Heather and I “celebrated” our sixth year anniversary. I quoted the word celebrated because we painted and moved in all weekend (and we’re still doing this). Hardly a celebration, but we’ll treat ourselves to a nice dinner somewhere soon enough.

You’ll find a great snapshot of Heather and I discovering our frozen wedding cake in her parent’s deep freezer which they gave us. We were moving it in to the garage from the Uhaul when we cracked it open to find an odd shaped, tin foil covered dish. You’re suppose to wait one year, then eat some of your wedding cake for good luck. We waited six years and decided to pass on eating some. Oh, those red nasty things are/were rose pedals.

TSA detains woman over infant’s sippy cup — I feel safer!

Jordan says: “This one just made my blood boil: a mom was bullied by a gaggle of security officers at Dulles Airport in Washington, D.C. over the water in her 19-month-old son’s sippy cup. The story starts out sort of funny, with the sippy cup being seen as some sort of deadly weapon, but quickly spirals into nightmare territory. This is a national embarassment; I feel more threatened by these uniformed goons than I do by terrorists, and I lived in NYC during 9/11.”

It’s been tough too, because I’ve been working in Nashville Monday to Fridays. I’ve been driving back to Jackson on Fridays after work, then back to Nashville at about 5:30 Monday mornings. Time has been tight.

Mother’s Day Out has ended for the summer in Jackson, which means Heather has both kids ALL of the time. The idea of trying to record an episode with Skype is a good one, but just not possible because Heather has no down time.

Having said all of this, I am heading back to Jackson today after work. With any luck we’ll have some time this weekend to record a new episode. Please stay subscribed.
